Hyperspherical Close Coupling Calculations for Helium in a Strong Magnetic Field

A new method for the solution of the two electron problem in a strong magnetic eld is presented that combines the well known hyperspherical close coupling and nite element methods and applied to helium in a magnetic eld of up to 10 5 Tesla, giving energy levels of low-lying S{ and P { states up 1 to a principal quantum number of n = 4 as well as wavelengths of selected transitions.
